We know that the decision to board your pet can be an anxious time for you and your pet. As a veterinary hospital, we are specially equipped to take care of your pet while you are away. Your pet is monitored for behavioral, medical, and appetite changes by trained staff. You can have peace of mind knowing your pet is in trained hands. Our facility is located at the base of Afton Mountain in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. Nestled back in the trees, our secluded paths, pond and mountain stream are sure to help your pet have a relaxing stay.

  • Must be current on the following vaccines: Rabies, distemper, Bordetella, and must be free from internal and external parasites

  • Although we do provide food and bedding for your pet, you are welcome to bring your own. We will do our best to ensure that all personal belongings return home with your pet. Please understand that we cannot be responsible for lost or damaged items.

What should I expect when dropping off my pet for boarding?

Please allow yourself 10 to 15 minutes when dropping off your pet to fill out paperwork and to go over any special needs your pet may have while here.

What do I need to bring with me when I drop my pet off for boarding?

  • Vaccination records
  • Medicine and detailed instructions
  • Food, if desired, preferably in a resealable bag/container
  • Bedding and/or toys (But not necessary)

Should I bring my pet’s own food and personal items?

We have everything your pet needs while they are here staying. However, you are welcome to bring bedding, food, and toys from home. We have a refrigerator and microwave to prepare any special dietary needs your pet may have.

How far in advance do I need to make reservations?

Calling at least a month in advance for major holidays and anytime school is not in session is highly recommended.

Is there someone at the hospital 24/7?

There is staff in the facility seven days a week and every holiday during normal business hours. However, there is no one in the building overnight.
